Neon (Ne) is a colorless, odorless, non-flammable rare gas, and its content in the air is 18ppm. It is a gaseous inert gas at room temperature. When low-pressure discharge is performed, it shows a very obvious emission line in the red part. Very inactive, does not burn, and does not support combustion. Liquid neon has the advantages of low boiling point, high latent heat of vaporization, and safe use. Usually neon can be used for neon lights and as the filling medium of the electronics industry (such as high-pressure neon lamps, counter tubes, etc.); used for laser technology, as luminous indicators, voltage adjustment, and laser mixed gas components; neon-oxygen mixed gas instead of helium Oxygen is used for breathing; used as a cryogenic coolant, standard gas, special gas mixture, etc.; used for high-energy physics research, filling the spark chamber with neon to detect the behavior of particles. When the concentration of krypton gas is high, the partial pressure of oxygen in the air can be reduced and there is a danger of asphyxiation. Manifestations include rapid breathing, inattention, and ataxia; followed by fatigue, irritability, nausea, vomiting, coma, and convulsions, leading to death. Generally, no special protection is required during production. However, when the oxygen concentration in the air in the workplace is lower than 18%, an air respirator, oxygen respirator or long tube mask must be worn. Transportation precautions: non-corrosive, general materials can be used. Austenitic stainless steel can be used for liquid neon. Neon is generally stored in glass bottles or steel bottles. During storage and transportation, load and unload with care to prevent the container from being damaged. The output of liquid neon is small, and it can be stored and transported in a liquid helium container similar to a small liquid nitrogen screen type. When this type of container is used, the support of its content must be reinforced to adapt to the greater density of liquid neon. Storage precautions: The warehouse is ventilated, low temperature and dry; lightly load and unload.
