High-purity xenon: difficult to produce and irreplaceable

High-purity xenon, an inert gas with a purity exceeding 99.999%, plays an important role in medical imaging, high-end lighting, energy storage and other fields with its colorless and odorless, high density, low boiling point and other properties.

Currently, the global high-purity xenon market continues to grow, and China’s xenon production capacity is also growing significantly, providing support for industrial development. In addition, the industrial chain of high-purity xenon is very complete and has formed a complete system. China’s Chengdu Tayong Gas and other companies are constantly promoting the development of the high-purity xenon industry through technological innovation.

Expansion of high-end applications

In the field of medical imaging, high-purity xenon is used as an MRI contrast agent to facilitate the non-invasive detection of lung microstructure; in the field of aerospace, high-purity xenon is used as a working fluid in electric propulsion technology, significantly improving the carrying capacity and performance of spacecraft. Efficiency; in semiconductor manufacturing, high-purity xenon is crucial to microchip etching and deposition processes, promoting the development of high-performance computing and data storage technology.

Difficulties in Xenon Production

The production of high-purity xenon faces qualification barriers, technical challenges, high costs and resource scarcity. It needs to meet the national 5N purity standard and ISO 9001 certification. The technical difficulties mainly come from the trace presence of xenon and the low efficiency in the purification process. The production cost remains high due to high energy consumption and high technical requirements. The limited reserves and mining restrictions of global xenon resources further highlight the problem of resource scarcity, which restricts the development of the industry.
